Flights

  • Outbound: Saturday 27 October, British Airways, LHR-BUD, 08.45am.

  • Return: Sunday 28 October, British Airways, BUD-LHR,8.25pm.

Airport transfers

  • Outbound & Return: Taxi from the airport to the hotel and explored from there. Taxi back to airport on Sunday evening. Convenience once again I’m afraid…

Hotel

  • Brody House (EUR140 per night). Incredible place - we stayed in the “Print Room”, which was less a room and more a flat, with a kitchen and lounge area, then a massive corridor leading to a humungous room. The look was shabby chic - unfinished walls, untouched hallways etc - but really worked. Bohemian and comfortable in equal measure. The breakfast was a buffet on the top floor, which was great - and the local printmaking group were setting up while we ate, felt like a very creative space.

Activities

  • Open top bus tour - naturally, the best way to get to grips with the city…

  • Danube evening river cruise - this was the coldest I think I have ever been, as we fought the elements and stayed up top in the cold, wind and rain. Not the best, but beautiful sights nonetheless.

  • New York Cafe - supposedly the most beautiful cafe in the world, and it was definitely a nice pitstop for afternoon tea.

  • St Stephen’s Basilica - compulsory to get a stained glass fix as always.
