A bumpy but uneventful flight over (had a window seat and, luckily, an empty seat next to me, so was able to get some sleep while practising my contortion skills - negotiating arm rests and chair legs!).
Due to “headwinds and traffic” our 12 hour flight was delayed by an hour coming in to Hong Kong, so I resigned myself to missing the connecting flight (why I believed them when they said an hour would be enough in between flights, I’ll never know! You live and learn). Not a massive problem thankfully - BA came up trumps and put me in the Marriott overnight, along with a couple from the UK. We made the best of it - they were really nice and turns out they are from Tunbridge Wells (small world) and he works in product development/design for Ann Summers...it’s true that you meet interesting people when travelling!
Having got up to speed on the latest developments in sex toys (bluetooth etc) we headed back to the airport and caught the 2.30 Vietnam Airlines flight to Hanoi. Finally joined up with my group of fellow Vietnam explorers - and no sooner had I put my suitcase down we headed out for dinner via the local ‘water puppet’ show. It deserves a spot on the royal variety show, that’s all I’ll say - never seen anything like it before!
Heading off to Ha Long bay tomorrow after a quick trip to the local market - keen to see a little bit more of Hanoi before I have to leave!
